Why your voice matters
By taking part you can:
- Influence decisions about your home and community
- Help make services fairer, safer and more efficient
- Make sure your rights are respected, and your concerns are heard
- You can share your views in different ways. For example, by completing a survey, joining a group, or visiting a Community Hub.
We promise to: Listen → Act → Report Back.
Benefits of getting involved
We make it easy for you to take part. You will get:
- Free training and life skills you can use at home, in the community or at work
- Expenses paid (for transport, parking, carers or childcare if needed)
- Invitations to local and national housing events
- The chance to meet new people and build confidence.
Training and support
We provide training so you can take part with confidence. This includes:
- Essential life skills such as budgeting, digital skills and tenancy management
- Advanced skills such as minute taking, chairing meetings and event planning
- Free attendance at local and national housing conferences
- Digital drop-ins for 1-to-1 help with smartphones, tablets or laptops
- Community Hubs with advice from council staff and partners such as Citizens Advice
We also provide:
- Hearing loops at meetings
- British Sign Language interpreters
- Documents in Easy Read, large print, audio or translated formats
- We pay reasonable costs such as transport, mileage, carers and tech support.
Ways to get involved
You can choose how much time to give.
- Armchair reviewers – review policies and webpages from home in your own time
- Complaints Focus Group – help improve our complaints process
- Housing Improvement Workshops – quarterly meetings to review housing standards
- Online surveys – give feedback anytime. Incentives now focus on completing the Tenant Satisfaction Measures survey
- Policy Co-Creation Group – help write housing policies with council staff
- Readers Panel – check how clear and accessible our communications are
- Residents’ Associations (TARA) – join your local tenant and resident group
- Last 200 Repairs Forum – quarterly group to review the repairs service
- TACT (Tenants and Council Together) Board – tenant and leaseholder reps meet 4 times a year to monitor performance and represent tenants

Your rights
As a tenant or leaseholder, you have the right to:
- Be consulted on changes to services, policies and housing programmes
- Have your concerns listened to and acted on
- Be treated fairly and with respect
- Influence decisions about your home and community
The Consumer Standards set out these rights. They cover:
- Neighbourhood and community – safe, clean and well-managed areas
- Safety and quality – homes that are safe and well maintained
- Tenancy – fair allocation and good tenancy management
- Transparency, influence and accountability – fairness, respect and a voice in decisions

If something goes wrong, you can make a complaint (link). If you are not satisfied, you can escalate it to the Housing Ombudsman.
