Recycling small waste electrical items and batteries
We have been improving waste collection to enable you to recycle small household electrical items as part of our scheme we launched on 1 February 2021. You can recycle toasters, torches, kettles, and we will collect household batteries. So far we have recycled 17.22 tonnes of electrical items.
To recycle small electrical items, place them in a carrier bag (no black sacks) and put them next to your waste or recycling bin on collection day. Please do not put these items in your bin.
We will collect any small electrical items that use batteries or plugs provided that they can fit into a standard sized carrier bag. We cannot collect light bulbs, or fluorescent tubes.
Further details of how to recycle large electrical items can be found on the Bulky Household Waste web page.
To recycle small household batteries, place them in small plastic bag, e.g. a sandwich bag, and leave them on top of your waste or recycling bin on collection day. Please do not put these items in your bin. We cannot collect car or large commercial batteries.
