The surveys are being conducted on our behalf by independent research agency Lake Market Research Ltd. 

All interviewers doing the doorstep surveys will have a letter of authorisation from the council and carrying identification badges.

We’ll be talking to 1600 households from across the district. We’re keen to make sure our survey reflects the views of the wider district, so we’ll be selecting a group of households with demographics that proportionally represent the district’s demographics. We’re choosing addresses by Census Output Area.

For the Young Persons’ Survey, our researchers will be carrying out on-street using specified demographic quotas.

Your views are important to us because they give us a representative picture of people’s views across the district, which helps us to understand what people think of our services and the district. The survey lets us know what we’re getting right, what we could be doing better, and how we can work to improve things for Winchester residents going forward.

By having people from all age groups and backgrounds take part, the data can be used to better shape the way we work to serve everyone in the district.

The information collected in these surveys will be used to inform decisions that affect the way we all live and work. Your opinions and experiences will help us to shape our new council plan which will set out our priorities over the next five years.

Yes – the survey is fully confidential and the information collected will only be used for research purposes. 

We may ask to collect some personal details if you’re happy for us to contact you about future research, or if you’d like to receive updates from our residents’ newsletter – but these personal details will be kept separate from your answers. 

Your answers will be combined with others that take part in the research. You will not receive junk mail as a result of taking part.

All the information will be processed in accordance with the MRS code of Conduct, and in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation for the performance of official authority and public interest and will only be held for as long as it is being used to produce statistics.
