Why are some wildflower areas being cut now?

Due to the warmer weather, wildflowers have experienced an earlier growing season this year and are now ready for cutting and seed collection. The continued dry weather has significantly increased the risk of grass fires, so cutting back the driest wildflower areas will also help reduce the danger of a fire spreading.
