Councillor Allowances & Expenses

Please find full details of the adopted Members Allowances Scheme at Part 6 of the Council’s Constitution. Schedule 2 to Part 6 sets out amounts currently paid for each duty.

The adopted scheme is pursuant to the decision of the meeting of full council held on 18 January 2023.

In making its decision, council had regard to the final reports of the Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP).  The IRP is convened in accordance with The Local Authorities (Members Allowances) (England) Regulations (SI 1021) (2003 Regulations).  The IRP also convenes to consider an Allowances scheme for Parish and Town Councils as the ‘Responsible Authority’.

The most recent report of the IRP which convened in September 2022 is also available. The Panel’s recommendations were considered by full Council on 18 January 2023, which decided to implement an alternative scheme that can be viewed via this link.
