Refuse and recycling bins (black and green wheelie bins)

Householders are responsible for looking after their refuse and recycling bins and for replacing them if they are worn out, damaged, vandalised, lost or stolen.

As bins get older, the plastic can become more brittle and more likely to break during normal use or collection. This is more common once a bin is over 10 years old.

If you need a replacement refuse or recycling bin, please contact Biffa on 01962 670 706 to arrange payment and delivery.

The current cost of a replacement refuse or recycling bin is £40.97, including delivery.

Only one 240-litre refuse bin can be purchased per household unless you qualify for additional capacity. There is no limit on the number of recycling bins that can be purchased.
Food waste bins and glass recycling boxes

Outdoor food waste bins and glass recycling boxes are provided free of charge.

If your food waste bin or glass box is lost or damaged, you can request a free replacement using this online form.
If you believe the collection crew damaged your bin

If you believe your refuse or recycling bin was lost or damaged by the collection crew and it is under 10 years old, please report it using this online form.

Each case will be investigated by Biffa and the council.

If the investigation confirms that the damage was not the result of age-related wear and tear, a free replacement bin may be provided.
