A heritage statement is an assessment of a site and/or the surrounding area to evaluate the disruption of development. When considering planning applications within a conservation area or relating to a heritage asset, the National Planning Policy Framework directs Local Planning Authorities to request applicants’ asses the impact of the development on heritage assets. The evidence provided through the designation of buildings, structures and landscapes into the Non-Designated Heritage Asset list and Local List of Heritage Assets allows applicants access to this information and support the information presented alongside the statutory listings conducted by Historic England.
