800+ Years of Winchester Mayors - A Guided Walk

Step back in time with the Mayor's Walks in Winchester, a captivating series of guided tours presented by the Winchester Area Tourist Guides Association. Celebrating the city’s mayoralty, recognised as the oldest in England after London, these walks delve into the contributions of Winchester’s mayors over the last eight centuries. Starting at 2.30pm from the Guildhall steps, each walk offers intriguing stories, from the possibly imaginary first Mayor to a banquet that tragically impacted the Cathedral Dean and local oyster industry, and the fascinating tale of how King Alfred’s statue came about thanks to a Mayor named Alfred.
Trafalgar Celebration Sea Shanty

Join us for an indulgent evening of local flavors at Abbey House, hosted in support of the Mayor's Charities. This exclusive Cheese Tasting and Presentation will be led by renowned local cheesemaker Mike Smales of Lyburn Cheese Farm, offering a unique opportunity to explore the rich heritage and craftsmanship behind some of Hampshire’s finest cheeses.
Mayor's Eggheads Quiz Night

Calling all trivia enthusiasts! It's time to flex your mental muscles and join us for the Eggheads Quiz, one of the most anticipated events on Winchester's social calendar. Hosted by none other than quiz master extraordinaire, Kevin Ashman, this annual quiz extravaganza brings together teams of up to 8 for an evening of brain-teasing fun and camaraderie.

Hampshire History Trust
Hampshire History Trust is a charity which was formed in 2020
growing out of the very successful Winchester Heritage Open Days
activity. The aim of the charity is to bring Hampshire history to life,
and to the lives of Hampshire people. We aim to provide great
experiences of Hampshire History; to share and promote a love of
the history and heritage of the county for the enjoyment and benefit
of the community and visitors alike.

St John's Winchester
St John’s Winchester is dedicated to supporting older people to
live well in Winchester. We focus our efforts on helping the most
vulnerable in the community, establishing our Hand in Hand
befriending and signposting programme, and more recently the
Dementia Support service. Our almshouses provide affordable
accommodation for older people facing financial challenges often
combined with social, emotional or health needs, enabling them to
maintain their independence.

Sea Cadets
Sea Cadets is a voluntary run organisation that offers fantastic opportunities for young people within the local community. It is affiliated with the Royal Navy and instils key qualities of leadership skills, team work and discipline. It is also fun and offers cadets the opportunity to learn and develop many sailing and nautical skills. We offer so much at our weekly meetings , boating in the summer and in the winter we teach Seamanship, first aid and catering.

Winchester Radio
Winchester Radio 94.7FM, is a volunteer-led, community-driven, dementia-friendly charity dedicated to supporting the older generation, taking an holistic approach to positive ageing, reducing loneliness, and improving health, especially amongst the socially-isolated and digitally excluded. The team visit patients at the RHCH and local community groups. Their 24/7/365 radio service helps keep listeners connected to their community - providing local news, promoting local events and grassroots activities, and signposting people to support services; and bringing comfort through a good variety of music. Run by an intergenerational team of volunteers aged from 22 to 85, all passionate about supporting those in need.
