There are three charities supported this mayoral year:
-
Home-Start Winchester
Home-Start Winchester & Districts is a community-based organisation of trained and supervised volunteers helping families with young children through challenging times. Families we support are coping with a diverse range of complex issues, including loneliness, poor mental health, domestic violence and disabilities. Volunteers work alongside families for at least 2 hours per week for as long as it takes, offering non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential help and support. We also run family groups where parents can support each other, and their children can play and socialise.
-
Trinity Winchester
Trinity is a Winchester-based charity which addresses the effects of homelessness and vulnerability through specialist practical and emotional support, and proactive prevention, empowering positive change.
Trinity help people who are vulnerable to the effects of homelessness, addiction, physical and mental ill health, poverty, social isolation and domestic abuse.
They provide vital practical and emotional support to over 640 people each year who are experiencing the effects of homelessness or vulnerability.
Their dedicated Women’s Service sees over 150 women each year, offering them support to make positive change to their lives and in many cases break free from the damaging cycle of domestic abuse.

Winchester Action on the Climate Crisis
Winchester Action on the Climate Crisis (WinACC) is a long-established local charity. We work hard to tackle the local activities that contribute to climate change in the Winchester area, so that nature and future generations can thrive. We provide expertise to organisations and communities in reducing their carbon footprint and increasing clean renewable energy generation. Our work in communities is extensive; over 46,000 people in the Winchester district have a climate action group supported by WinACC in their neighbourhood.
