Exhibition for public to find out more about Central Winchester Regeneration Supplementary Planning Document

Winchester residents, businesses and visitors are being invited to find out more about the central Winchester regeneration plans, and give their initial feedback, at a drop-in event in the Walton Suite at the Guildhall Winchester on Tuesday 14 November between 4pm and 8pm.

The master planners and architects behind the new vision for Central Winchester’s regeneration (JTP) and Council officers will be on hand to give more information about the content of the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). People will also have the chance to give their initial feedback ahead of the launch of the formal consultation on 11 December.

Cllr Caroline Horrill, Leader of Winchester City Council, said:

I’m determined we don’t lose the fantastic involvement we’ve had from the public, businesses and visitors throughout the development of the SPD and I don’t want to wait until the start of the formal, legal consultation process to hear what they think.

The Central Winchester Regeneration project is all about creating a city centre which delivers for residents, business, the local economy and visitors. I’m excited to see the vision unfold as we prepare to finalise the SPD for the benefit of the entire district.”

Highlights from the various sections of the draft SPD will be displayed on exhibition panels as well as copies of the draft SPD and consultation questions being available.

Marcus Adams, JTP’s Managing Partner, said:

There’s a lot of detail in the SPD and this ‘drop-in’ will give people the chance to talk through the plan with us and the Council and give some initial feedback before they respond to the formal consultation.

The initial draft SPD is available on the Council’s website and hard copies can also be collected from the City Council’s reception in Colebrook Street which is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am until 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am until 4.30pm. People can give their initial feedback ahead of the formal consultation via an online feedback form.
