HousingThe City Council is involved with and has a wide range of responsibilities for Housing.

This section of the website covers a variety of areas related to housing, including, council housing, applying for housing, home improvements, grants, refuse and recycling, and much more. There is also an area packed with useful information regarding Council Tenancies including an electronic copy of the Tenants Handbook.

Here you will also find information on applying for housing using Hampshire Home Choice, the new choice based lettings system that will be live in Spring 2009.

Important Notice

Landlord Services wish to issue a formal apology to all our tenants following the leaflet that was sent to tenants with their quarterly rent statement.

The leaflet was issued in error and as such, we sincerely apologise for the distress and upset caused to those tenants, who pay their rent in accordance with their tenancy conditions.

Winchester City Council continues to be one of the best performing landlords in the area for collection of rent and our quick response when arrears increase is essential to maintain our good performance. The arrears leaflet was aimed at providing advice and assistance to those tenants in rent arrears and should not have been sent to the high proportion of good payers.

We accept that this mistake does not meet the high standard of customer care that we aim to meet all of the time and we will ensure that this does not happen again.

A further apology will also be issued to all our customers in our next edition of On The House.

Richard Botham (Head of Landlord Services)
