Creative careers to take centre stage at free Winchester fair
The spotlight will shine on creative careers at a forthcoming fair for young people.
The half-day event has been organised by the Visit Winchester team at Winchester City Council. It will showcase the scope and breadth of creative career opportunities across the district - and local creative businesses, freelancers and organisations are now invited to take part.
Stallholders are welcomed from creative industries including advertising to art, museums to music, film to fashion and games to galleries, design and architecture representing the breadth of opportunities.
The fair will take place on Wednesday 11 November at The Nutshell in Kings Walk.
Cllr Martin Tod, Leader of Winchester City Council, said: “Many people locally have built rewarding careers in creative businesses and organisations; they’re a really important part of our local economy – quite aside from all the other benefits they bring to our area. The fair is a brilliant opportunity for young people to talk directly with individuals who are working in creative organisations locally and learn about the different roles, skills and opportunities that can be open to them.
“If you’re still thinking about what your future looks like – or even if you already know, please come along to speak to those working in the sector locally, to find out what creative careers can look like, and to learn about the relevant education and training options. The conversations you’ll have may help you discover future options you didn’t even know about.
“And if you’re a local creative who’d like to help, we would love to hear from you too. Creative careers come in many different shapes and sizes – and so the more we can share with local young people, the better!”
