Nominations open for Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards
The search is on for individuals and organisations who have made a real difference in the Winchester district.
Nominations for the annual Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards are now open, offering an opportunity to recognise and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others.
The closing date for nominations is 15 February 2026. The awards will take place on 12 March 2026 in Guildhall Winchester.
The Mayor of Winchester Cllr Sudhakar Achwal said: “Our community is built on the quiet dedication of people who ask for nothing in return, often working behind the scenes to help others. These awards give us the opportunity to shine a light on those unsung heroes and to say a sincere ‘thank you’ for the kindness, compassion and strength they bring to our lives.
“I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate someone who makes a real difference; let’s ensure their hard work and generosity receives the recognition it truly deserves.”
To nominate a person or organisation, you can find out more and complete the online form via the blue button on this webpage.
The next Mayor of Winchester Supported Charity events are also now on sale. These include a talk on Agatha Christie by former Mayor Angela Clear, a chamber music performance by the St Giles Ensemble, the popular annual Quiz Night featuring Kevin Ashman and a talk by Lady Alison Wakeham on her time working for Margaret Thatcher during the 1970s.
