Council launches fund to help build healthier, stronger, thriving communities
Winchester City Council has launched a new fund designed to help build communities where residents can feel safe, connected and able to access the services they need.
Through the Healthy and Thriving Communities fund, local voluntary and not‑for‑profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to support work that strengthens social connection, improves community participation and helps those facing the toughest circumstances.
The fund, which is open until 26 February, prioritises projects that deliver multiple community outcomes, particularly in areas affected by disadvantage, isolation or long‑term vulnerabilities.
Through the grant, organisations can fund costs such as staffing, training, premises and materials — supporting them to continue delivering essential local services that help build healthier and thriving communities.
Cllr Kathleen Becker, Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities, said:
“Our voluntary and community organisations are at the heart of what makes Winchester a supportive and connected place to live. This fund is designed to strengthen their work, helping us build healthier, stronger and thriving communities that can help ensure nobody is left behind.”
