Elite double RSPCA PawPrint Awards retained by City Council team for third time
The Animal Welfare team at Winchester City Council has retained its elite pair of RSPCA awards for the third consecutive year.
The animal protection charity has awarded Platinum PawPrints to the council for both Stray Dog Services and for Animal Activity Licensing.
Winchester City Council is one of only seven councils in England and Wales to have achieved Platinum status for Animal Activity Licensing.

Platinum PawPrints, which were first launched in 2023, are presented to organisations who have received Gold PawPrints for five or more years consecutively.
The PawPrint Awards recognise organisations which have demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion, and innovation in their efforts to protect, promote and enhance the lives of animals.
Cllr Steve Cramoysan, Winchester City Council’s Cabinet Member for Recycling and Public Protection, said: “We are so proud of our dedicated and hardworking Animal Welfare team and its continued excellent work across the district, work which has been rightly recognised by this pair of PawPrints.
“The 2025 judging criteria asked for even higher standards – and the fact that our team still won demonstrates that our Animal Welfare team remains among the very best in the whole country. Well done to our dog wardens and the rest of the team!
“I find it personally reassuring to know that, should our family dog go missing, our outstanding council Animal Welfare team is there to ensure it would be well looked after until we could be reunited”.
