Advice and guidance on dog barking

Dog barking is a form of communication and is a normal dog behaviour. If barking increases or becomes excessive, however, it can be a sign that something isn't right and it may also cause problems for other people.

Dog-barking

If you’re concerned about your dog’s barking, there is some great advice set out on the RSPCA’s dog barking web page and the Dog Trust’s website

Further advice and support is available on our own website, and you can also contact Dave and Ross from our Animal Welfare Team, who are available to help. Simply give them a call on 01962 848097 or drop them an email at ehealth@winchester.gov.uk

We understand that it can be disturbing living near a dog which is barking a lot; it is worth trying to speak to the owner of the pet first before taking the matter further, and being patient if the dog’s owners are trying to resolve the situation.
