Steven Northam’s lifetime achievement recognised at Winchester Business Excellence Awards

Winchester City Council has proudly awarded the Millennium Egg – a recognition of life-time achievement – to local entrepreneur and businessman, Steven Northam at the prestigious Winchester Business Excellence Awards.

Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at The IncuHive Group, and a director of many other companies, Steven has introduced affordable co-working spaces for businesses across the UK in a supportive working environment, including in Staple Gardens, Winchester and the IBM site in Hursley.

Incuhive recently offered a support service to Winchester district businesses for the last two years and during this time Steven and his business partner, George Scott-Welsh gave over 1,000 hours of support to local businesses.

Steven has also been a Senior Lecturer in entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Winchester Business School since 2009. Many of his students go on to set up their own businesses, helping with graduate retention, creating a highly skilled local workforce and contributing to the economy of the district.

The award was presented by Cllr Martin Tod, Winchester City Council’s newly appointed Leader

Cllr Martin Tod, Leader at Winchester City Council, said:

“2022 is a great year to present Steve with this prestigious award – our resilient district is recovering and the demand for affordable office places will certainly grow.”

Steven’s boundless energy, enthusiasm and drive is what’s made Incuhive the success it is today and his passion to support local businesses and budding entrepreneurs in their quest for success is second to none. I’m excited to see what’s next for him...”

The Millennium egg was donated to the council by Jeremy France of Jeremy France Jewellers – an ornately crafted ornament presented annually to an outstanding local business person for their services to the economy of the Winchester district.

The event also saw Cllr Lucille Thompson, Cabinet Member for Business and Culture at the city council, award the Digital Innovation Award to Blue Apple Theatre.
