Winchester City Council Residents’ and Young Persons’ survey 2022

Winchester City Council has appointed researchers M.E.L Research Ltd to carry out a doorstep survey of 1,600 residents across the district. This is to gain their opinion of the council and its services, the area where they live and what they think the council should focus on improving in the future.

We will also be running a separate young persons’ survey where people aged 18 to 24 will be interviewed in several locations around the district. The findings will be used to enable the council better understand the evolving views and opinions of students and young professionals who live in the district. The fieldwork begins today (Monday 31 January) and will run until 20 March 2022.

M.E.L Research Ltd is accredited by the Market Research Society (MRS). The Market Research Society is contactable via the MRS helpline on free phone 0500 396 999 or you can contact the council on 01962 840 222 to confirm that the research is legitimately being carried out on our behalf.

The interviews will be carried out according to the MRS Code of Conduct. Information provided by the respondents will only be used for research purposes and will be held securely and strictly in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All interviewers will have a letter of authorisation from the council and they will be carrying M.E.L identification badges and wearing a branded hi-vis vest.

The health and safety of members of the public is of prime concern to the council and M.E.L Research so we will be complying with the latest COVID-19 advice and guidance issued by the Government and the Market Research Society.

We look forward to seeing the results of these surveys, so that we can use the information to continue improving our services.
