Revamped Meadowside Leisure Centre Opens its doors on Saturday for free family fun

Meadowside Leisure Centre is reopening on Saturday 2 October 2021 after a £175k refurbishment undertaken on behalf of Winchester City Council by new operators Everyone Active.

Managed by Everyone Active, the facility now includes an all-new 50-station gym floor, a new group cycling and virtual studio as well as two five-a-side floodlit pitches and a three-court sports hall.  From 10am to 4pm, Saturday 2 October, residents are warmly invited to an open day to sample these cutting-edge facilities, and take part in free group exercise classes on-site. There’s fun for all the family with a bouncy castle and children’s activities on offer, too.

Alison Norman, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active said:

“We’re so excited to celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Meadowside Leisure Centre, which has been serving the community for over twenty years.

“The centre plays a pivotal part in helping people to improve their health and wellbeing and so we hope the local community will join us for a day of fun-filled activities for the whole family.”

Cllr Angela Clear, Winchester City Council Cabinet Member for communities and wellbeing, said:

“We are eagerly waiting the reopening of the refurbished Meadowside Leisure Centre on 2 October. Residents will be able to enjoy a first class gym facility with the latest equipment that will provide our local communities in the south of the district with a variety of convenient health and fitness options.

“This is just the motivation we need as we recover from the effects of the pandemic. We are determined that all district communities have access to facilities that support their health and wellbeing - this investment into Meadowside Leisure Centre reflects that commitment.”

Activities for the open day will need to be booked in advance online via the Everyone Active website and you can find directions here.
