Paralympic Personal Bests event debuts at Winchester Sport & Leisure Park

Winchester City Council, in partnership with Simplyhealth, the University of Winchester, Everyone Active, Santander and Winchester GoLD will welcome more than 150 participants to the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park for the annual Paralympic Personal Bests event.

The one-day event will be packed with sports and activities for children aged 10+ and adults with additional needs. On the day, activities include everything from swimming and football to cricket, rugby, athletics and low-level circuits.

The annual event returns after being cancelled during the pandemic will be taking place at the all-new Winchester Sport & Leisure Park for the first time, alongside the University of Winchester athletics track.

Team GB wheelchair tennis player Lucy Shuker, a silver medal winner at Tokyo 2020, will be at the event, cheering everyone on and hosting an award ceremony at the end of the day.

Cllr Angela Clear, Cabinet Member for Communities & Wellbeing, said:

“This event provides a great opportunity for our residents of all abilities to access sport and physical activity at our state-of-the-art leisure centre. Whether you’re a keen swimmer or a first-time squash player, it’s a chance to join in and have fun!”

Alison Norman, area contract manager for Everyone Active said:

“We are so excited to be hosting the Paralympic Personal Bests event for the first time at the new Winchester Sport & Leisure Park. We work hard to provide more opportunities for those with additional needs to take part in physical activity, and hope this event will attract children and adults to get involved in a fun-filled day of sports and activities.”

To ensure a place, please book in advance. The cost is just £10. For further information, or to book a place, please contact Betty Chadwick at betty@winchestergold.org.uk or call 01962 600281.
