Further COVID-19 grant programmes launch across the district to support the local economy
Businesses and organisations who have been impacted by COVID-19 can now apply for two additional grant schemes. Winchester City Council has launched a new COVID-19 Business Challenges (CBC) grant programme, and a further round of the popular Transformation, Adaptations and Diversification (TAD) grant.
Following feedback from businesses affected by staff shortages and closures, the council has introduced this one-off CBC grant to compensate organisations and businesses based in the Winchester district for loss of income during the six week period from 1 July to 16 August 2021. The deadline for CBC applications is Monday 27 September 2021.
In addition, a further £500,000 of TAD grant funding is being made available to help those who have or plan to make adaptations to their services and/or to diversify or transform their services, products and business model to reach new customers and markets, including new practices that support longer term resilience.
Priority will be given to those who have not previously applied or been awarded a TAD grant. The deadline for TAD applications is Monday 13 September.
Cllr Martin Tod, Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery at Winchester City Council, said:
“It continues to be a top priority for the council to help businesses recover from COVID-19 and gear up for a successful future. The last round of the TAD grant was a successful and popular way to support business with their future plans – and so we’re running it again. Some businesses need help to cope with the impact of COVID-19 on their income in July and August, and the new CBC grant is for them. This support is a vital part of our work for the district and sits alongside our short-term recovery plan for the district’s high streets and our longer term Green Economic Development Strategy for all businesses across the area."
