Barfield Park & Ride temporary changes
Barfield Park & Ride:
Due to essential roadworks to support the construction of the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park there will be temporary changes to Barfield Park & Ride starting from January 2020.
From Monday January 13 for nine weeks, Park & Ride buses will not be able to serve the Barfield Park & Ride site. This is due to works to move underground cables in preparation for a new roundabout, which will provide access to Winchester Sport and Leisure Park.
Over this time, it will still be possible to use the site for parking. Walking from the car park into the city centre will take approximately 15 minutes.
People wishing to access a Park & Ride service are advised to use St Catherine’s Park & Ride near to the Barfield site.
In addition, vehicles leaving Barfield Park & Ride will be temporarily directed left onto Barfield Close and into the city centre in order to access Bar End road.
Access to University of Winchester Sports Stadium:
The current footpath for pedestrians connecting Barfield Park & Ride to the University of Winchester Sports Stadium will also be closed – users of the stadium are advised to use St Catherine’s Park & Ride during this time, which is around ten minutes walk from the stadium on foot.
Temporary traffic lights Bar End Road:
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Bar End Road adjacent to the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park site during off-peak times in order to minimal traffic disruption.
We apologise for any inconvenience these temporary changes will cause users of this site as we progress construction of the district’s major new sport and leisure facility.
