Winchester Town Forum launches small grants programme and crowdfunding platform

Local organisations can benefit from Winchester Town Forum’s small grant programme along with new innovative crowd funding opportunities.

Applications from organisations in the Winchester Town area - up to £500 - are now open with a deadline of noon on Tuesday 15 October.

Small grants can help to pay for one off activities, new equipment and community activities.

Winchester Town Forum has also agreed to allocate a substantial grant budget of £33,000 for not for profit organisations to apply for match funding  of up to 50% of their project costs or £2000 (whatever is less).

Crowdfunding is a way of raising money through online pledges and donations, while also engaging with audiences to tell the story behind initiatives and the activities that organisations are providing.

The council are hoping to have this initiative up and running by the end of this year.  This will offer financial support, increase reach and sustainability of activities within the district.

Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Cllr Anne Weir, who chairs the Town Forum Grants committee said:

“The small grants have proven invaluable to organisations within the Town area of Winchester.  A little bit of money goes a long way towards an activity or piece of equipment.

“The town has such an active community, we would like to encourage organisations to apply in order to continue fostering community cohesion and resilience.”
