New crafts centre opens its doors in Winchester

A new crafts centre has opened in the heart of the Central Winchester Regeneration area.

BellaCrafts which is based in Fair Oak is expanding into Winchester and have now opened a new centre at Kings Walk.

The centre features more activities, tea rooms, private spaces and it will even have a play area for little ones to enjoy.

The grand opening was celebrated in style with a weekend of activities including a demos for wood etching, glitter pasting and silver smithing, pottery painting and glass painting.

Kings Walk, which is in the Central Winchester Regeneration area, has seen a resurgence with the former Antiques Market being transformed into The Nutshell which is an arts and event space.

Cabinet member for economy, Cllr Anne Weir, said:

“It is great to see a really family-centred business offering creative activities for children and adults of all ages setting up in the centre of Winchester. Close to other new ventures in Kings Walk and The Brooks, BellaCrafts have created a space where people can shop and relax while their children play.”

Cabinet member for housing and asset management, Cllr Kelsie Learney, said:

"I’m delighted to welcome BellaCrafts as a new council tenant in Kings Walk, we’re keen to improve this part of town and new creative businesses can play a big part in that."
