Major Winchester council housing scheme begins to take shape
The Valley in Stanmore, Winchester City Council’s largest council housing scheme where 77 homes are currently being built, is due to be completed in 2021.
Work started on the project in April of this year and contractors Drew Smith have made excellent progress with various buildings starting to come out of the ground, including the four blocks of flats at the top of The Valley opposite Wilberforce Close. The drainage infrastructure and foundation works for these blocks are now nearing completion.
New Business Director of Drew Smith, Leanne Smith said:
“Drew Smith are delighted to be the partner of choice for Winchester City Council on this complex and exciting project. Working in partnership with local authorities to deliver quality new homes that benefit communities like Stanmore is an incredibly important and key part of our business. Our commitment to the successful delivery of this site is testament to Drew Smith’s dedication to working alongside local authorities to build more homes throughout southern England.”
Earlier this year the council received the welcome news that the £18.7m project will benefit from an additional £3.4m cash boost provided by Homes England (with a total grant of £6.4m).
