Businesses vie for council’s new Bishop’s Waltham sites
A surge of interest has been received by Winchester City Council as businesses vie for new units being developed on the site of the former depot in Bishop’s Waltham.
Nearly 50 enquiries have been lodged by firms interested in the three new units on Lower Lane.
Portfolio Holder for Estates and ward councillor for Bishop’s Waltham, Cllr Steve Miller, said the council was clear in its support for businesses in the town. He said:
“There is a real need for business premises in the southern parishes and providing suitable accommodation is a vital part of our commitment to support business across the district.”
The three units will cover almost 8,000 square feet and the development will include 25 car parking spaces.
The current buildings on the site would be demolished and redeveloped to provide the industrial accommodation.
Ward councillor for Bishop’s Waltham, David McLean said:
“I am delighted that we are developing these new business premises for Bishop’s Waltham, which will provide new jobs and opportunities for our residents.”
A planning application for the site is likely to be decided in March.
