Winchester Museums at Bishops Waltham Fete
Have you found anything interesting when out walking, digging the garden or metal detecting - perhaps flint tools, pieces of pottery or coins? Would you like to discover what they are, or find out more about them?
Winchester City Council’s Museums Service in partnership with the Portable Antiquities Scheme is hosting a Finds Identification session at Bishops Waltham Fete on Saturday 13th June between 1.00pm and 4.00pm
Rob Webley, the Hampshire Portable Antiquities Scheme Finds Liaison Officer, and colleagues from the Museums Service will be on hand to try to identify your mysterious finds and tell you more about these clues from the past.
All the finds that qualify will be recorded onto the Portable Antiquities Scheme’s national database to help build up the picture of Hampshire's past.
As well as Finds Identification there will be the opportunity to handle genuine artefacts from Winchester Museums’ collections and the chance to try on replica period costumes, so make sure you bring your camera!
Re-enactors from the Medieval Free Company will also be present to provide all the atmosphere and colour of the middle ages.
