Businesses to get help with Smoking Ban
Businesses across the Winchester district will get help next month in complying with the new smoke free legislation due to come into force later this year.
Representatives from employers across the area are being invited to a series of free briefings run during March by the Smoke Free Hampshire Alliance which is supported by Winchester City Council.
The events aim to explain the implications of the new legislation and what steps are needed to prepare for the start of smoke free public spaces and workplaces which come into effect in July.
Anyone wishing to attend can go to the local event at The Rosebowl on 1st March although anyone unable to make that date can also go to similar briefings elsewhere in the County. These will take place at the John Pounds Conference Centre, Portsmouth on 6th March and The Ark Conference Centre in Basingstoke on 14th March.
Announcing the briefings, Cllr Frank Pearson Portfolio Holder for Environment, Safety & Health said "This is one of the biggest changes in legislation for some years which will have a major impact upon businesses, the public and health services.
"It is vital that employers and businesses in our district understand the implications of the ban and prepare for its start later this year. These briefings provide the ideal opportunity to learn about the new requirements."
