Use a Hoppa Bus
People may not be aware that Winchester City Council's Park and Ride buses can also be used as a Hoppa Bus around the town for just 20p, for all stops on the circular route Broadway back to Broadway, via St George's Street, Jewry Street, Upper High Street, Westgate, the Railway Station and North Walls. This route accesses a wide variety of shops, offices and tourist attractions, as well as the trains.
Cllr Barry Lipscomb, Cabinet portfolio holder for planning and transport, said it was another facility that was on offer to residents and visitors - and those district residents over 60 or disabled can even use their bus pass to travel free off-peak.
"This is excellent news for everyone. We know people come into the centre and then perhaps struggle to get to the top end of town, but taking one of our new environmentally friendly Park and Ride buses makes it much easier," he added.
"Winchester's Park and Ride car parks have 785 spaces available and usage is very high during the week, with nearly 700 cars parked daily on average."
The daily charge for Park and Ride is £2.00 with freedom of movement on the P & R buses all day.
