Council seeks comments on Meadowside land use
Winchester City Council is asking for comments on its proposal to dispose of part of the recreational land at the Meadowside Leisure Centre, Whiteley, so that Hampshire County Council and the Diocese of Portsmouth can provide a new primary school. The City Council's Cabinet agreed in principle last week to consider releasing the land, but asked that local residents be consulted on the proposal. The "in principle" decision was also dependent on the County Council's response to proposed conditions on the sale and use of the land.
Notices are also being placed in local newspapers, at the Leisure Centre and on the site itself. A plan of the site is available via the following link Whiteley Site Plan. The Cabinet report and minutes of the meeting are also available through these links.
Any objections or other comments should be made by 29 June to the City Council's Secretary and Solicitor at City Offices, Colebrook Street, Winchester, SO23 9LJ or by email to CSS@winchester.gov.uk
Any representations made will be taken into account by Cabinet before any final decision is made on whether to release the land.
