A child's eye view
Local school children have transformed the Guildhall Gallery, Winchester, into a showcase for their colourful and expressive self-portraits.
The children, aged 7-11 years old, created their self portraits during workshops at the Art Gallery in October. Inspiration was provided by the portraits on display both in the Guildhall and in the Gallery itself, as part of the 'Faces and Inner Places' exhibition by Helen Jones and Carol Warrener.
Pupils were encouraged to include something of their own character and personality in their self-portraits, and also to use colours to express how they felt about themselves. As a result, you will see aspiring World Cup footballers, pop stars, smiling angels and just a few little devils!
Participating local primary schools are Wickham, Cheriton, Owslebury, Kingsworthy and Itchen Abbas Schools, and St Bede and St Faith's from Winchester.
The display of children's self-portraits by can be seen in the Guildhall Art Gallery, above the Tourist Information Centre, in the Guildhall until Sunday 12th December. The Gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 12 noon-4pm.
Also on show are over 300 ceramics displayed by the Southern Ceramic Group.
