Description
Join one of Winchester’s professional guides for a 90 minute walking tour, starting at Winchester Visitor Information Centre. The tour includes locations in the Saxon and Norman capital city that had significance in Saxon times and particularly the events leading up to October 1066. Hear how Queen Emma started the Norman influence in Saxon England and learn about Winchester as a centre of embroidery excellence, as a place of retreat for a widowed Queen Edith after the Conquest and her influence on the most famous embroidery of all time.
