Description

Celebrate the Gurkhas’ bravery in Burma (now Myanmar), hear from family members what it was like to be a Prisoner of War in the Far East, discover what happened in the Far East after Victory in Europe (VE) and Victory over Japan (VJ) were declared 80 years ago.
All are invited to come and commemorate the contributions of Gurkha units and individual soldiers in 1945 in helping secure the end of the Second World War. This exhibition is a firring finale to our Path to Victory series where The Gurkha Museum Trust has counted down the Gurkhas’ actions from January to August 1945 with researched articles and events.
The summer exhibition will be held in our Gallery on the second floor of The Gurkha Museum, former Peninsula Barracks, Winchester (SO23 8TS). Please drop in anytime from 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs (1 to 30 August) to celebrate this 80th anniversary and see for yourself what the future of Gurkha heritage will look like.
