Alresford Watercress Festival
Nationally acclaimed Annual festival attracting thousands of visitors to New Alresford to celebrate all things watercress.
Open hours:The festival opens at 10:00 and closes at 16:00, with the streets of New Alresford being returned to normal within a few hours.
Every year on the third Sunday in May the streets of this Georgian town are closed to traffic to transform the town into a family-friendly FREE festival.
The streets of Alresford become a feast of food stalls, cooking demonstrations, Hampshire Farmers' Market, an array of local traders selling goods from jewellery to clothing, art to books and cakes to cuddly toys.
Charity stalls run competitions for all ages, there is the annual watercress eating competition and plenty of love music. A falcon display and vintage vehicles, along with circus skills, penalty shoot outs and much more will keep the children entertained, whilst the grown ups sample some of the local fine ales and wines.
The steam train runs from the park and ride in Ropley and the stagecoach bus runs from Winchester and Alton.
There is plenty of car parking in the area, manned by volunteers and parking charges remain at £5 per vehicle or £10 for VIP or Park & Ride.
