Description

The Baton will be visiting Winchester Sport and Leisure Park on Wednesday 6 July, before moving on to Hambledon, giving you the opportunity to get involved!
The Baton is expected to arrive at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park after 2.00pm to join a school sports day at the leisure centre. Beforehand, the Baton bearers will do a lap of the athletics track with local school children at around 2.30pm and you are invited to come along to cheer on the team as they complete their lap of the track. You can arrive any time from 1.00pm, have a picnic with friends or family in the Sport and Leisure Park grounds, where there will also be some music, entertainment and light refreshments available. It would be best to walk or use public transport, but if driving you should use the nearby park & ride. When you get there, follow the signs to the athletics track at the rear of the leisure centre.
The second stop for the Baton within the Winchester district will be at Hambledon's Broadhalfpenny Down Cricket Ground. Winchester College will be playing cricket against the Brigands, starting at 2pm. The Baton is expected to arrive between 4pm and 4.30pm and the Baton bearers will run around the outfield and greet players, spectators at the monument and in the Bat and Ball pub. If you live locally you are most welcome to come along to watch the match and see the baton arrive!
