Newlands Parish Council By-Election
Due to the resignation of a parish councillor, 10 or more requests from registered electors have now been received to call a by election to elect to the vacancy for Newlands Parish Council.
If more than one nomination for a candidate is received, this Parish by-election will be held on Thursday 11 December 2025. Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.
You can only vote if your name is on the Register of Electors.

New Alresford Town Council By-Election
Due to the resignation of a parish councillor, 10 or more requests from registered electors have now been received to call a by election to elect to the vacancy for New Alresford Town Council.
If more than one nomination for a candidate is received, this Town Council by-election will be held on Thursday 11 December 2025. Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.
You can only vote if your name is on the Register of Electors.

Registering to vote
If you are an eligible elector and you are already on the Register of Electors held by Winchester City Council, you do not need to re-register for this election.
Information on how to register is available on the GOV.uk website here. The deadline for applying to register for voting in this election is Tuesday 25 November 2025.

Voting in Person
From May 2023 to be able to vote in person you will be required to show a form of photogrpahic identitification. For more information please see Voter Identification Requirements - Winchester City Council
The deadline for applying for a Voter Authority Certifcate is 5pm Wednesday 3 December 2025.

Voting by Post or Proxy
If you are unable to get to your polling station on Thursday 11 December 2025 or would prefer to vote another way to cast your vote, you can register for a postal or proxy vote.

BY POST
Postal voters will not need photographic identification and will be issued with their postal ballot papers as usual, including postal proxies.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 November 2025.BY PROXY
If you choose to vote by proxy, then the person who you have trusted to vote on your behalf will have to take their own photographic identification to be issued a ballot paper at the polling station.
The deadline to apply to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 3 December 2025. -
Candidates
If you intend to stand as a candidate you must complete a nomination paper, consent to nomination and any other relevant forms.
Nomination papers for these elections must be completed and submitted by hand to the Returning Officer, City Offices, Winchester City Council, Colebrook Street, Winchester SO23 9LJ.
Nomination papers must be submitted between 10am and 4pm from Friday 7th November to Friday 14th November (excluding weekends and bank holidays). The deadline for nominations is 4pm on Friday 14th November 2025. It is recommended that you book an appointment, please email ereg@winchester.gov.uk or call 01962 848125.
Nomination papers may also be scanned for an informal check to be carried out before the formal submission of nomination papers to the elections team on ereg@winchester.gov.uk. Any errors found will be communicated to the candidate by email to allow these to be corrected before formal submission. However, it should be noted that the correct completion of the nomination forms remains your responsibility.
