Business Rates Relief for Pubs, Clubs and Live Music Venues from April 2027

The Government has announced a new Business Rates Relief scheme for eligible pubs, social clubs and live music venues in England, due to take effect from 1 April 2027. The new relief is intended to support businesses that play an important role in local communities and high streets.

What is changing?

Eligible pubs, social clubs and live music venues will receive a 20% reduction in their Business Rates bills from April 2027.

Who will be eligible?

The relief is expected to apply to eligible:

  • Public houses (pubs)
  • Social clubs
  • Live music venues

The Government has indicated that the relief will be targeted and that the largest live music venues will not be eligible. Further eligibility criteria and detailed guidance will be announced by the Government at a later date.

What happens next?

At present, the Government has announced the policy intention, and further details, including the qualifying conditions and administration arrangements, are expected to be published before the scheme comes into effect.
