Bar End Development
The Bar End Depot site
In March and November 2022, Winchester City Council held a community event at Winchester Sport & Leisure Park, asking those living or working in the Highcliffe area to share their views on the future use - or uses - of the Bar End depot site.
We are grateful to everyone who spent time to read the information either in person or online, and who provided us with feedback.
You are invited to attend a public briefing session with the Council Leader and Ward Members on Monday 4 September from 6.30pm to 8pm at the Guildhall Winchester
Venue:
Guildhall Winchester,

The briefing will include feedback from the public engagement events, and an update on the proposed timetable for marketing the site this Autumn.
There will be the opportunity to ask Cllrs and Officers questions at a Q&A session from 7.00 pm until 8.00 pm. We hope you have time to attend.

Bar End Regeneration
The site forms part of the wider Bar End regeneration area. Extensive previous engagement to develop a design framework for Bar End took place between 2015 and 2018 in which over 1,000 responses were received, and 70 face-to-face meetings were conducted.
These consultations led to a Community Plan (pdf, 6.3mb) and adoption of the Bar End Framework. As part of this framework a shared vision for the site was developed which allows for the provision of:
-
An area for sport and recreation, leisure, wellbeing and enjoyment.
-
High quality, highly valued and accessible facility for the community.
-
Complementary uses and facilities such as hydrotherapy, treatment, and recovery alongside recreational, sporting and competitive activities.
