West Waterlooville - Public Art Programme
West Waterlooville is a Major Development Area in the south-east of Winchester District, adjoining Waterlooville. On completion it will result in over 3,000 new homes. A public art programme, funded through a Section 106 agreement, has had various iterations since developer, Grainger PLC, gained planning permission in 2012.
In 2024 a renewed plan for the delivery of Public Art on the development was produced. It includes an initial 18-month programme and an approach for the next ten years – the estimated time the developer will be on site. Please follow link on the right side of the page to view the full plan.
Plot Lines
Led by artists and writers and using the power of storytelling and words to connect people, Plot Lines aims to gather, listen to and share community stories and anecdotes from living in and near Waterlooville.
Plot Lines is about creating space for residents to share their ideas and help to guide creative activity in the area. Artists, writers and partners have delivered a series of workshops, walks and talks targeting different groups across the breadth of the community. Writer in residence Aoife Mannix has been capturing personal experiences of moving to or living in the area, writers have been leading workshops and writing reflective poems and residents have been invited to contribute their own stories, writing and memories.
Three publications preserve fragments of everyday life that reveal something larger about what it means to belong to a place and a community. The first two can be found on the right-hand side of this page.
A final art installation is being planned and is due to be installed mid-2026.
