Work experience

Get a taster of working at Winchester City Council!

We are keen to invite applications for work experience from young people at school and colleges in Winchester district. Applications from university students from Winchester district requiring short-term work experience to complete their courses are also welcome. We cannot offer year-long paid internships. In all cases, applicants from inside the district will be considered before those from outside the district.

We give priority to applicants for work experience in hard-to-recruit areas such as special maintenance, chef work, legal, building control, and parking.

Our work experience programmes are accredited by Industrial Cadets, a national scheme hallmarking quality work experience placements.

How to apply

  1. All applicants for work experience should fill our Work Experience Application Form as a first step.
  2. Please download the Individual, Parent and Teacher Agreement consent form, sign and return it to us (a scan is fine); applicants under 18 will need parents and teachers to sign as well.
