Kerbside glass collection considered for Winchester

Winchester City Councillors are considering introducing kerbside Glass Collection.

As part of its commitment to helping residents create a more environmentally-friendly district, Winchester City Council will discuss the feasibility of a monthly kerbside glass collection service for all households as part of the revised specification for its waste collection contract which is currently being prepared.

Increasing recycling levels are part of the City Council’s aim to improve the quality of the District’s environment, along with the protection and enhancement of open spaces and the reduction of harmful emissions.

Cllr Jan Warwick, the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment, said:

We have asked officers to include kerbside glass in their negotiations for the new contract following feedback from members of the public. We are committed to improving and maintaining the natural environment and also listen and respond to the needs of our residents.
