£50 Reward for Loyalty in Denmead

The Denmead Village Card, a loyalty scheme originally set up in 2015 is being relaunched on Saturday 4 March, with bigger prizes and even more incentives to shop locally.

The popular loyalty scheme was put on hold last year while new businesses were recruited and the whole scheme revamped. The minimum spend of £5 has been removed, and card holders can now earn up to 5 stamps in one transaction depending on its value.

From fish and chips to flowers, massages to mechanics, Denmead Village Card holders can earn stamps in 11 different local businesses. Once they have 10 stamps, they simply pop the card into the prize draw box, which is hosted in a different participating business each month and on the first day of the month (or the second day if the first is a Sunday or Bank Holiday), one lucky card holder is drawn from the box to win that month’s prize. Prizes are worth at least £50 and examples include a one-hour body treatment, an MOT, lunch for four with wine and gift vouchers.

The scheme is being organised by Winchester City Council’s Market Towns Development Officer, Heidi Isa, in collaboration with Denmead Parish Council. It is hoped that as well as rewarding existing local village centre users, the Village Card scheme will attract those who don’t currently shop in Denmead.

Cllr Rob Humby, Portfolio Holder for Business Partnerships, Economy & Arts and Tourism, said of the scheme:

By encouraging people to support their local businesses, especially in more rural settings, we help to ensure their long term sustainability, which is important for the community as a whole. The Denmead Village Card is an effective and fun way of achieving this, bringing benefits both to village centre users and participating businesses.

Denise Paice, whose health and beauty business Outback Therapies, is part of the scheme said:

Denmead has a lovely village atmosphere, where the local community spirit is still alive and the people are friendly. It is great to be part of the Denmead life.

The following businesses are participating in the scheme:

• Parkers (DIY, Garden and pet supplies)
• Barnards (Coffee shop and bistro)
• Fleurtations (Florist)
• Speedymech (Car mechanic services)
• Mary J's (Hair dresser)
• Outback Therapies (Massage & beauty)
• Discover Wine (Independent wine shop)
• Hebe Salon (Beauty Treatments)
• Forest of Bere (Pub with food)
