The sessions are run in partnership with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lawn Tennis Association, the Tennis Foundation, Osman Tennis and Places For People.

The summer sessions, take place at Osborne School, Shepherds Down School, Kings School and River Park Leisure Centre, and have been hugely successful with over 500 people taking part to date.

The sessions will culminate in a tennis festival for all participants on Tuesday 22 August from 1pm to 3pm at River Park Leisure Centre.

This event will showcase the skills learnt over the past few months and will involve some fun tennis game. The afternoon will end with a traditional tea party and a prize giving ceremony.

Cllr Lisa Griffiths Winchester City Council Portfolio Holder for Heath and Wellbeing commented,

"This initiative has been tremendously popular with participants of all ages and with a wide range of disabilities taking part. The feedback that we have received so far has been very positive and everyone, both staff and players, looks forward to the festival event on 22 August".
