Denmead to celebrate new affordable homes for local people
Eleven new affordable homes have been completed at Old River in Denmead.
All the properties, which are a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, have been offered to people with a strong local connection.
The £1.6m scheme is part of an on-going commitment by Winchester City Council to work in partnership to provide affordable homes in the Winchester District.
Work started in January 2014 and was completed in April 2015. The official opening of the new homes coincides with the Hampshire Alliance for Rural Affordable Housing’s (HARAH) 10th anniversary. HARAH will mark the occasion with a celebration and an anniversary cake at Denmead on Friday 25 September 2015 at 4pm.
Cllr Caroline Horrill, the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, said:
This scheme highlights the importance of partnership working. A key priority for the parish was to be able to find a permanent solution to providing affordable housing for local people.”
Since the HARAH partnership was set up in 2005, 147 new affordable homes have been provided in rural areas in the Winchester District through the partnership.
The Denmead project was funded through a combination of private finance arranged by Hyde Housing Association and funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
