Stanmore Planning Framework next steps

Over the next few weeks Winchester City Council will survey the site of the former New Queen’s Head public house in Stanmore to find out what its possible uses might be.

The survey will look at the topography and trees on the site along with other aspects. To help decide on the best use for the New Queen’s Head site, similar surveys will also take place on the adjoining land at the Stanmore Recreation Ground.

The Council purchased the pub site earlier this year to provide options for improving life for residents in Stanmore, which is one of the Council’s top priorities.

Cllr Keith Wood, the Leader of Winchester City Council, said:

Work is on track to bring a final version of the Stanmore Planning Framework to Cabinet for a decision in the autumn including feedback from the public consultation.

In the mean time we will look at the New Queen’s Head pub site to see what options it provides. We want to make best use of this asset for the good of the community in Stanmore as soon as we can.

We have not made any decisions about the use of the pub site at this stage. The survey will help us to understand what is practical and possible.
