Response to Barton Farm appeal decision
The City Council is surprised that the Secretary of State has decided to offer no arguments in support of his appeal decision on Barton Farm. There has been no discussion with the City Council and the Secretary of State’s position was not influenced by anything the City Council has said or done.
The Secretary of State now has to reconsider his decision on the Cala application and this will have to take into account the situation as it is now.
The City Council will not ask for a new public inquiry as the factual position can be dealt with by written representations. We urge the Secretary of State to make a new determination of the outline application as soon as possible.
If consent is granted for the outline application the City Council will deal locally with all the detailed issues through the consents that will be needed for each phase of house building.
