Winchester Photographic Society Annual Exhibition 2012

From Saturday 21 April until Sunday 20 May, City Space, in the Winchester Discovery Centre, will be hosting the Winchester Photographic Society Annual Exhibition. This popular exhibition, with exhibiting photographers finding inspiration from all parts of the world, promises to be a real feast for the eyes.

Winchester Photographic Society was founded in 1923 and each year holds an annual competition open to photographers, both amateur and professional. Themes in the exhibition include modern portraiture, through traditional landscapes to 'avant-garde' digitally manipulated images.

Everyone who visits the exhibition is encouraged to vote for their favourite photograph. Will you agree with the judges' selection of the best pictures in the show?

To mark the 2012 Olympics the Winchester Photographic Society hosted a small competition asking members of the public to submit images reflecting the Olympic values: excellence, friendship and respect. The winning image along with two runners up will be exhibited in this year's exhibition.

Exhibition Secretary, Louise Brown, commented,

We are delighted to be in City Space again this year in a venue that really compliments the photographs and which always seems to generate an appreciative and warm response from visitors. The opportunity for people to vote for their favourite image always proves particularly popular."

The exhibition opens on Saturday 21 April and runs until Sunday 20 May.

Admission is free.
