Make your voice heard - Don’t lose your vote in 2012

Voter registration forms will soon be dropping through letterboxes across the Winchester District. By completing and returning these forms quickly, you will help your Council to compile the new electoral register, which will come into force on 1 December 2011 and be used at the District elections scheduled for 3 May 2012.

If you haven’t received your form by the beginning of September you can contact your Electoral Registration Officer on 01962 848 125.

Registering to vote is very simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote and return it to us as soon as possible. If your details haven’t changed you can also reply by telephone or e-mail, by visiting www.registerbyinternet.com/winchester or ringing 0800 197 4417.  Please make sure that you have your unique security code to hand, which is shown on your form.

If you don’t like receiving ‘junk mail’, you can also use the form to opt to have your name excluded from the ‘edited register’, which is the version available for purchase by  individuals and commercial organisations, usually for marketing purposes.

Remember - if you are not on the Register, you will not be entitled to vote and it could also affect your credit status, as credit rating agencies use the Register as part of their assessments.

For more information contact your local Electoral Registration Officer on 01962 848 125.
