It was following this increase in popularity and demand for pitches that Winchester City Council proposed a change in pitch layout to accommodate all age ranges. The new larger pitches, which overlay the traditional six-a-side pitches, also give younger players the chance to play on an adult pitch.
Cllr Stallard, Winchester City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and Sport, said: “The new pitches offer football teams a great surface to play on, and enable the Council to meet an increasing demand for both junior and adult pitches. It is fantastic to see the growth in girls’ football - and to be able to make provision for this through our facilities at the Garrison Ground.”
The Council is keen to see other teams benefit from the new pitches as well. For booking enquiries please call
