Fabulous food in Winchester this Sunday 26 July

Winchester will be jam-packed with food and drink this Sunday (26 July) in celebration of the Hampshire Food Festival, with the Winchester Food & Produce Show in Winchester Guildhall and the regular Hampshire Farmers’ Market in Middlebrook Street and car park.

Food and drink producers from Hampshire and further afield, as well as local tea rooms, restaurants and hotels will be offering tastings and information, as well as selling produce at the Winchester Food & Produce Show in Winchester Guildhall. Cookery demonstrations will run from 10am-noon and 1-3pm. These include: Jennifer Laing of Alresford-based Cresson Creative who will be preparing dishes using Hampshire’s renowned watercress; Fosters Events, caterers at the Guildhall; and Chris Hanson who featured on BBC2’s series The Restaurant with Raymond Blanc, running their restaurant ‘Ray White’s’. Chris will be demonstrating dishes using local produce supplied by the new Winchester Waitrose, opening shortly.

The Winchester Food & Produce Show is a good opportunity to find out about new places to eat and drink in Hampshire including pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, hotels and caterers, and a great chance to try a range of local and other produce, watch cookery demos and get inspired by food!  A free prize draw will run throughout the day with the chance to win fabulous food-y prizes.

Admission is free to the Winchester Food & Produce Show which runs from 9.30am - 4pm on Sunday 26 July in Winchester Guildhall. Only a short walk away is the Winchester Farmers’ Market, the UK’s largest farmers’ market which runs from 9am - 2pm and also includes cookery demos at noon with the winners of the recent schools ‘Create & Cook’ competition. Hop on one of the Friends of King Alfred’s Buses at the Winchester Park and Ride and visit both events to make the most of this celebration of food as one of the finale events of this year’s Hampshire Food Festival!
